Nan Quan note note....
Just for my info....(in case I forget...) If you not interested in wushu, I suggest you don't read further, coz it's gonna get confusing...:P
Wu Duan Nan Quan
--------
1. No small/extra movements. Go straight into next stance.(imagine fighting scenario, no time to do all those stupid things...)
2. Strength, stability, explosiveness are key factors.
3. Knee jump short, land on foot.
4. Try to use your toes for firmer grip.
5. Concentrate....
6. Stamina important.
--------
Starting:
--------
Note 1: Qi3 ci4, no extra movement. Use lady instructor's method. Quick and alert.
Note 2: More strength when fists are pulled back towards the chest. Go straight into bao4 quan2. (don't pull fists too high up)
Note 3: Don't jump with your feet going behind. It is a 'knee jump', not 'high jump'. Must land on both feet (flat, not with the toes coming down first). Energy goes into the ground, not bounce back. This is so that the body will be rooted to the ground. Use toes for firmer grip. (Becareful of spaining ankles here...)
Note 4: When opening arms, becareful not to do extra movements. Don't pull your arms back, just open it up slowly.
Note 5: After jing4 li3, retreat in a straight line back.
----------
Middle (1):
----------
Note 1: At the part where there are multiple chong1 quan2, the second one requires the force of the qiao2. Got to experiment with this one...(ask dor dor, maybe teakwondo people more familiar with this one...)
Note 2: Before yun4 qi4 stance, 2 arms must be in circle form.
-----------------------------
Middle (after 2nd bao4 quan2):
-----------------------------
Note 1: For the kick, it is a tan2 tui3. Keep the leg up at waist level, then kick it out.
Note 2: The jump is an immediate jump. No running. Just jump right away at the gong1 bu4. Jump high, not forward.
Note 3: Come up quick and steady. The following punches are supposed to be a chained action.
Note 4: When shoving the arms around, it is the back (left) leg which takes the step, not the front (right) leg.
Note 5: the side kick is SIDE KICK!! Not targeted at the front.
Note 6: Grabbing action short and quick.
Note 7: It's flying kick, not 'flying and sliding' kick. Jump up, then kick out.
--------------------------------------------
Middle (after jumping and getting onto feet):
--------------------------------------------
Note 1: Back leg step forward, face 45 degrees, down, tiger claw, look straight.
Note 2: Turn 180 degrees. Back foot go further, almost in line with other foot.
