Night Talk
[Currently playing: Moments, by Ayumi Hamasaki]
Had a really heart to heart talk with my younger sis last night. She was feeling extremely upset for missing out on an oppurtunity to go for a hike on Mt Ophir. So she was there lying on her bed, with a "I'm not crying (and you're a bad liar)" face. So, I sat beside her on the bed and started talking to her about her problem.
It all so happens, that she had a medical appointment that afternoon and it clashed with her ncc training. Obeying my mum, she went for the appointment, not expecting that the ncc teacher actually gave out the registration forms for the Mt Ophir hike (which she was really eager to go). And no one in the ncc unit told her about it, not even her best 'friend'. Save for the really annoying 'suck-up-to-the-ncc-teacher' guy. He told her, the very moment she went onto the msn that night, about the forms. And there she was, "SHIT SHIT SHIT" all the way at the PC monitor.
After calling up a few of her ncc-mates and even the teacher (who, unfortunately, did not respond to her call), she was even more angry. And the next moment, she was silent, in the bedroom. Anyways, started talking to her about her problem.
She was upset that she missed out on the registration forms. (There are only 7 students who can go and the 7 forms were given out that very day), but she was even more upset that her best friend in the ncc unit did not even bother to ring her up on this issue. And when my sis called her up, her friend said that she forgot and added a line "you everytime sick here sick there one, sir also won't let you to go lah" Somehow, that last sentence was alarmed me. I wonder what friend would you call that? (She's adding oil to the fire, really.)
So we talked and talked, and she felt better, (which made me feel relieved) and we went off the subject really soon. Halfway through, she told me that we haven't talk like this for a long time, and felt as if she's throwing all her troubles at me. When I heard that, I was glad I could be of help. Maybe that's the joy of being at the listening end. It's such a simple thing to accomplish, yet it can change the day of someone.
